Import Quiz Questions (Moodle XML File)

If you have a Moodle XML question file, use the guide below to import the data into Moodle.

Note: If you have other question formats instead of .xml, select the appropriate question file format. If you need assistance, please contact someone on the eLearning Team.

Step 1

Begin by clicking the gear icon in the top corner of your course, then select “More…”

Scroll down to the Question bank section and click on “Categories.”

Step 2

On the Categories screen, click on the tab named “Import”.

 

The import tab is shown with a red box around it to highlight it. Other tabbs shown are Questions, categories and export.

 

For the file format, select “Moodle XML format”.

Scroll down and click the “Choose a file…” button. Select the .xml file on your computer that contains the questions you want to import.

Step 3

 

Click the import button.

If the import is successful, text highlighted in green appears and displays the number of questions successfully imported. Make sure this number matches your expectations. If the highlighted text is red, there was an error during the import process. Try again. If the error persists, download the file again from the source you received it.
