Course material meets ADA accessibility standards.
Basic Moodle accessibility items:
- Font type size and color are accessible, readable and consistent throughout the course, including uploaded resources and external documents.
- Rely on Open LMS’s built in text editor (Atto) rather than copying and pasting text. Atto defaults to acceptable fonts and formatting.
 - Use a sans-serif font (Arial, Calibri, Tahoma) of at least 12 points.
 - For screen reader accessibility of the page structure, page titles are generally <h1> and the major section headings are <h2>and then they can go down to <h4>or <h5>. Do not use font size or bold to create your headings. Instead, highlight the text for the heading and choose the heading level from the text editor menu in Moodle.
 - Limit fonts to no more than two per page.
 - Use bold or italics to emphasize – underlined text looks like a broken link online.
 - No flashing or blinking text.
 - Do not use color as the only visual means of conveying information (use bold or italics as well for colorblind students).

 - Link text should be descriptive and make sense when read out of context (avoid using “click here”).
- What not to do – “To go to the MySCC page, click here.”
 - What to do (the hyperlink assigned directly to the words) – “Go to MySCC.”

 - If you use tables, follow the directions in the text editor when creating them so screen readers know how to read the table.
- Caption – what is the table about – unless it is clear from the content or nearby text.
 - Headers – How the table is read – across the rows, down the columns or both.

 - Alternative text (alt-txt) for images
- How would you describe the image to someone over the phone?
 - Why is the image included?
 - If only decorative, check that option so it is ignored by the screen reader.

Other accessibility items:
- Required videos need to include captions and/or a transcript.
 - Publisher supplied materials required for students should be accessible as well – check with the publisher.

NOTE: These items apply to course material that you create as well as linked items in your course.
