One of our core values is Opportunity. In recognition of this, Sandhills Community College’s 5-year Web Accessibility Plan is designed to create online content that is accessible for all our users – students, faculty and staff.
Our online users could be visual impaired, color blind or even have temporary impairments such as wrist surgery that makes using a mouse unrealistic. Creating online material that is accessible for any of these users creates material that is easier to use for all of us.
For example, consider what you miss if you are not able to get the entire message:

To help faculty and staff, this page will serve as a resource for training materials and accessibility resources to make creating accessible online content (and understanding this sometimes complex subject) as easy as possible.
Please be aware that we are concentrating our efforts on specific types of online content each year, starting with the easiest (documents) working towards the most complex (multimedia). This means that as we move forward, more details about specific accessibility issues, concerns and solutions will be added. This is a process that will continue and adapt as software and the online environment evolves.
More information is available, including the college Web Accessibility Statement, on the main college site.
Note: The videos purposely have limited accessibility to illustrate the importance of wider accessibility.
