Grade Assignments

Assignments in Open LMS allow students to upload files for their instructor to grade in Open LMS. To grade these assignments, access the grading screen by clicking “View all submissions” on the assignment page (see image below).

View all submissions button with the Grade button

The View all submissions page displays all of the files submitted by students for the assignment. The image below (click to enlarge) shows the columns and options available on the grading screen. The File submissions column is the column that holds the file submitted by each student. Click the filename to download the file. Once the file has been reviewed, and a grade is ready to be entered, enter the grade directly under the grade column in the textbox. You can also add feedback into the Feedback comments area.

For more advanced options while grading, click the “grade” icon inside the Grade column to go to the advanced grading screen.

Each row has the student's name, whether the student has submitted an assignment, their current grade, and the date the assignment was submitted.

The major additions this screen provides are a larger feedback textbox and an upload area allowing instructors to upload files. The image below displays the top of the advanced grading screen which shows the student’s submission files and the current grade.

The top area of the grade screen displays the uploaded files from the studnet and the current grade assigned

Once the grade and feedback are entered on the advanced grading screen, save the changes and return to the grade screen (save changes) or proceed to the next student’s submission (save and show next).

The feedback area allows for comments to student, below it is the feedback file area shown with a bright blue arrow for dragging and dropping files.Click image to enlarge

Click “Save changes” to save and stay on the page, or “Save and show next” to save and go to the next student submission.
