Labels

Labels are similar to headings in an outline. Labels help keep content from running together. Though only text, labels play an important role in organizing content, particularly how content is grouped together.

Create the Label

In the Activity Chooser pop-up window, choose “Label”. Note the yellow tag-like icon beside the name. If you look for this symbol, it will speed up the time it takes to locate Label in the list of resources.

On the Label creation screen, there is only one textbox. The “Label text” textbox will contain the text shown in the main course area. In the example below, a label will be created for a discussion forum section in a topic. It is a good idea to bold the label by selecting the text and choosing “B” on the toolbar. Bold text allows the label to stand out.

Enter the text for the label in the LAbel text field

Click the “Save and return to course” button.  The image below shows a label called “Forums” with three forums underneath it. Note how the label helps to organize the content and make it easier to locate for students.
