Important Disclaimers with Lesson Settings
It is essential we remain upfront on the many nuances of lessons. Below are a few notes to consider when building your content to avoid unnecessary pitfalls.
- Progress Bar:
- The Progress bar only works correctly for lessons with “straightforward” navigation, such as Page 1 > Page 2 > Page n > End of Lesson. It is not guaranteed to work properly with branching scenarios or excessive jumping to other pages.
- For lessons containing content pages, once a lesson has been taken to the end, if that same lesson is re-taken, the progress bar will not be “reset”, i.e. it will show a 100% progress from Page 1.
- For lessons containing question pages and set to allow retakes
- Menu Bar:
- If you have questions throughout the lesson and students navigate using the menu bar, it’s possible they could skip questions unknowingly.
- Time Limit:
- It does not hinder the student from completing the lesson; however, any unanswered questions will not count if done after time is up.
- Allow Student Review:
- Only allows student review immediately after finishing a lesson.
- If lesson only has content pages, it will review all content.
- If lesson has content and/or question pages, it will review only question pages. Answers are view only.
- “Maximum attempts per question” override the “Provide options to try question again” setting.
- Retakes allowed:
- Use mean(default): the average of the students’ attempts will be their final score
- Use maximum: the highest score from the students’ attempts will be their final score
- Reports Tab:
- “Not Completed” entry – not completed means that student did not fully complete or submit the lesson. Lessons automatically registers those attempts as a zero.
- Students must reach the “Congratulation – You’ve reached the end of Lesson” page to know the lesson was completed
- This page will mention the student’s current grade AND if essay questions are yet to be graded for their REAL grade.
